This asymmetry is not incidental. It is structural—baked into the commercial aviation model, which optimizes for carrier efficiency rather than passenger readiness. And for executives whose compensation, equity stakes, or deal outcomes depend on their capacity to read a room, identify leverage, and make rapid, accurate assessments, the asymmetry carries real financial weight.

Attempting to assign a dollar figure to degraded executive judgment is, admittedly, an imprecise exercise. But the exercise is worth undertaking.
